This could have been the Beth Page of Massachusetts, instead it's just a terribly maintained municipal course
with a ton of potential. One of the best layouts with the worst conditions in Massachusetts, this Donald Ross
design set right of the highway in Canton is a disappointment.
Excruciatingly long rounds with temporarily greens, and sometimes closed holes makes golfing here a very
unpleasant experience.I always laugh when I think that Tiger Woods once played here and wonder what he
must have thought. A few years back, around the same time the USGA decided to play the US Open at Beth
Page Black, they surveyed this course as a potential venue. The convenience, location and potential all
sparked their interest, along with the fact it was a Ross design, but the mere fact that it would just cost too
much money to get it into tournament condition prevented them from choosing it. What a shame...
Surprisingly though, I enjoy playing this course. The layout itself is worth the $17 to play. One of my favorite
holes is the 18th where you and your buddies can pull out the driver and see who can drive the green. Most of
the time the end result is a lost ball, but either way it gives you something to laugh about as you finish your
round.
